Russian tennis player Roman Safiullin claimed victory at the ATP Challenger event in Mauthausen, Austria, securing his second consecutive title on the circuit.
In the final, the 28-year-old Safiullin defeated Portugal’s Jaime Faria, ranked 136th in the world, with a score of 4:6, 6:4, 7:6 (7:4). The match lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes.
Safiullin, currently ranked 176th in the ATP rankings, had previously won a Challenger tournament in Oeiras, Portugal on April 19, where he beat French player Valentin Royer in the final.
The Russian’s best ATP ranking was 36th, achieved in 2024. He reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2023 and competed at the Paris Olympics in 2024, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the third round.
The prize money for the Mauthausen tournament exceeds €160,000.
