Real Madrid TV launched a fierce attack on La Liga, the television production of the match, and VAR following Madrid’s defeat to Barcelona in El Clásico.

The official club channel criticized the refereeing decisions, particularly focusing on a 55th-minute incident where Eric García appeared to elbow Jude Bellingham. Referee Alejandro Hernández did not award a penalty, sparking outrage.
“Maybe a push to the neck is something more, but we didn’t see it. What we did see was an elbow from Eric García that is clearly a penalty and should have been a red card,” RMTV argued. “This is another example of VAR failing to correct an injustice. If that’s considered a normal challenge, then anything can be. Anyone who has played football knows García did that with intent.”
The channel also complained about the lack of replays for other controversial moments, including a potential red card for Dani Olmo. “They are hiding the replay from the viewers. If we haven’t seen it by now, we never will—just like they refused to show Mbappé bleeding.”
Real Madrid TV’s harshest criticism was reserved for the match production. “La Liga is not serious. This is the league of Tebas and Negreira. It’s a circus and a joke. This is terrifying. The shameful production—especially the lack of replays during key incidents—shows bias. Whenever Real Madrid is involved in a controversial call, they cut to a wide shot. This is censorship orchestrated by HBS, the company contracted by Tebas, which then subcontracts to Mediapro. Their directors dictate the narrative to fans as they see fit.”
“Every time there’s a doubtful play, VAR intervenes only when it suits them. When does VAR step in? Only to harm Real Madrid,” they declared.
